I'll Bring you Flowers....London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week started today and Topshop have launched Mary Katrantzou's third and new collaboration, the majority of which disappeared within moments and sold out online when it went live at midnight. Alongside that Topshop celebrated 10 years of NEWgen which was launched in 2002 as a platform for emerging British design talent. In recent years some of these designers have created small collections for Topshop, this has given those of us who have a great love of fashion but who's pockets might not go that deep a chance to own a designer piece.

Today I headed towards Oxford Circus to pick up one of these beauties!!!

However by the time I had arrived it was completely sold out. Gone! BYE BYE!! It upset me more than I thought it would have and got me down for quite some time. I found myself going on a mini rampage in search of one. But patience is a virtue and after keeping my eye open for hours, one popped up in front of me when I'd almost given up hope and stopped looking.

It came in it's own drawstring bag and I can't wait to wear it!! And I shall try and quit going on about Mary K for a while. Well until her new collection shows this week.

Enjoy Fashion Week lovelies.

Mary Katrantzou for Topshop s/s12

If you look back to this post you will know that I loved the Mary Katrantzou show last London Fashion Week. Since then I have been itching to know what is next in store for her collaboration with Topshop.

And it doesn't disappoint.

I love this collection. I can't wait to see it in the flesh and see the new collection at London Fashion Week for A/W.

London Fashion Week favourites.....Mary Katrantzou

I was amazed to see the footage of this show. Never one for normal, run of the mill prints, Mary Katrantzou has set the bar high with these beautiful creations. Each print is like a secret garden, the closer you look the more gems you find. From coral reef and fishes right down to jewels and flower. Inspired by nature and its life alongside mankind. It is like the viewer has zoomed in on a photograph to the point where  All in vibrant, eye catching colours. The collection is so right and the detailing from the fold in the fabric and the bright but simple make-up and the shoes. Oh the shoes.

Along side the strong prints, which, in the case of the flowers used for example have been blown up so that it it is sometimes hard to recognise the flower in question, like zooming in on a photograph, sits the use of embellishment. Mary has put squashed cans to excellent use, sprayed to give that dirty silver/chrome look and them added to dresses to bring the 'mankind' influence back into the fold.

On a whole the show really excites me, even more so when I find focus on one or two of the dresses especially. They are a real work of genius and if I had the money I wouldn't question spending money on one, or two, or maybe even three....Here are some of my favourites;

Hope you love the collection as much as I do!!
